You will work alongside the teacher providing 1:1 or group support, using specialist intervention techniques. You may also be required to deliver1:1 or group lessons, supporting those students undertaking functional skills qualifications.Main responsibilities:To be actively involved in the support and engagement of students by:

  • Attend to the welfare and learning needs of students.
  • Build strong and appropriate relationships with students, developing a strong understanding of what motivates them to develop academically, socially and personally.
  • Promote resilience, social interaction skills and communication skills in all students.
  • To undertake break and lunch duties on a daily basis, including eating with the students.
  • To undertake training in therapeutic interventions and deliver them to individuals and small groups as necessary or directed by class teacher / SLT.
  • Read and understand EHCs, risk assessments, IEPs and PEPs (where appropriate) to ensure that individual needs are met.
Essential
  • Educated to GCSE C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a career with acquired skills which can be transferred to this role.
  • Skills using computer databases and common programmes.
  • High standard of report writing.
  • Experience working in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
