Job Description

Fast growing retail business based in the Walkden area requires an Assistant Financial Controller. Reporting to the Financial Controller this is an excellent role for someone who is 2-4 years PQE and looking for a role that will offer you development andprogression.Duties of the role will include:

  • Management of two Junior part qualified Assistant Management Accountants
  • Lead the production of the monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, including variance analysis and commentaries.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Work closely with the Financial Controller on the year end statutory accounts, audit and tax queries.
  • Review accounting processes and practices to improve the efficiency of the finance function.
  • Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller and CFO on ad-hoc analysis such as business cases for investment decisions
  • Support a strong learning culture within the team, helping to develop all finance colleagues by providing ad-hoc on the job’ training.
The right candidate for the role will be:
  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent with up to two years PQE experience
  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach.
  • The ability to create effective working relationships quickly.
  • Excellent Excel skills to include pivot tables, look-ups and various formulae.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time and tasks efficiently.
  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with Sage 200 or similar is desirable.
