Job Description

SEND Teaching Assistant - ASD, ASC, EBD, SLDSlough, Berkshire

Reed Education are currently supporting a school in the Slough area to recruit for a Teaching Assistant to join the school as soon as possible.The school:
  • A Headteacher who has been with the school for over 20 years, who started her career as a teaching assistant, before qualifying as a teacher and working up to Headteacher, she really knows the school and can provide amazing support to those starting outas she did.
  • A bubbly and friendly environment with amazing kids who benefit from lots of activity. Walking into the classrooms you are warmly welcomed by the kids who want to immediately involve you in what they’re doing.
  • Set in a building which is over 700 years old with all the original features the site really has great character and an amazing feel.
  • They are set to open a second part of the site next door to the current school which is brand new with excellent facilities including an immersion room where students can fully immerse themselves in sensory visuals.
What you need to know:
  • This is a special needs school who support students with autism spectrum condition (ASC), they are high needs and can be challenging.
  • Staff need to be resilient, understanding, flexible and supportive. The role is extremely rewarding but equally challenging.
  • We’re looking for staff who are interested in a permanent position.
  • The school support children from early years and primary age groups, although there is no need for personal care, if working with nursery groups you will need to support with feeding and toileting as required.
Who are we looking for:
  • People from all walks of life, although some childcare experience is necessary.
  • Someone with a knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Those with experience in a care, support work, foster caring or childcare background would be ideal for this position.
