Job Description

My Client, a leading UK challenger bank is looking for a Senior Credit Risk Manager who will be responsible for the development and provision of meaningful insight and analysis across the bank.The successful candidate will also responsible for supporting the maintenance, development and enhancement of the regular reporting routines and to identify opportunities and mitigate risk/loss in order to enhance the overall profitability of the business, along with ensuring that regulatory reporting submission data is accurate.The Senior Credit Risk Analyst role will predominantly focus on the different mortgage portfolios initially, but with the potential to expand into other areas, including business finance and savings.Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, develop and provide regular, appropriate and timely portfolio monitoring MI and analysis to inform the business, identify variances and trends, identify risk concentrations within the portfolio and influence, support and develop origination and portfolio management strategies to maximise opportunities within risk appetite.
  • Use data, quantitative analysis and knowledge of the portfolio to influence and drive positive change and effective strategic decisions.
  • Undertake strategic analysis of the portfolio, summarising results/conclusions and make recommendations where appropriate.
  • Provide portfolio analysis to monitor shifts in population stability, trends on financial strength and/or signs of financial stress via risk grade scores, and KRIs/characteristics.
  • Keep abreast of strategic changes within the business to ensure models remain valid and accurate. Use knowledge of the business and experience to make recommendations on assumptions and inputs used within the models.
  • Monitor, evaluate and assess all aspects of risk strategy; communicate results, conclusions and recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitor developments across the credit industry and make use of external market data available to benchmark performance and inform analysis and/or recommendations where appropriate.
  • Use internal and external data available to analyse and monitor the portfolio and to develop strategies/recommendations to mitigate risks/losses.
  • Support and assist with the auditing of external data submissions to regulators and industry bodies and ensure the processes remain efficient.
  • Continually strive to improve efficiencies and ensure reporting routines are automated and/or actively work with others to automate and streamline reporting where possible.
  • Prepare written reports and recommendations on the results of analysis carried out.
  • Support the Credit Risk Manager and Head of Portfolio Management and Regulatory Reporting through the preparation of product/strategy papers and proposals for review/submission to relevant credit committees.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure data and assumptions are valid, robust and accurate and to ensure that risk strategies and models are implemented successfully and add value.
  • Plan, prioritise and effectively manage workload to meet business objectives; keep manager and stakeholders fully appraised of progress and timelines.
  • Share knowledge and experience and collaborate with other business areas and actively assist manager and colleagues to transfer knowledge between teams and departments.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Credit Risk Analysts.
  • Key Requirements:
  • Excellent working knowledge of SAS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Direct and recent experience of credit risk related matters including data mining and analytical and/or scoring techniques
  • Knowledge of Credit Risk decisioning systems and originations and in-life servicing processes
  • A detailed knowledge of mortgages
  • A working knowledge of Tableau is desirable
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with an aptitude for problem solving
