Job Description

Head of Finance | £65-75k | Public Sector Organisation | Permanent | Hybrid, 2 days in WilmslowThis Head of Finance position is an exciting opportunity to join a public sector organisation. This diverse role would be a vital position to effectively lead and develop the finance team and deliver both operational financial support to the organisation, providetechnical expertise and support in delivering their long term strategy.Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting into the Director of Finance and line manage 3 members of staff
  • Planning for year-end including delivery of accurate and timely reporting
  • Overseeing statutory reporting and delivering both quarterly and yearly accounts prep.
  • Coordinating financial processes across the department and supplying opportunities for improvement across both systems and policies
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process
  • Preparing and updating Management Accounts, investigating variances, and identifying areas for improvement
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to provide support and up to date information
  • Oversee the transactional finance function ensuring accuracy across AP/AR and payroll.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to transform and improve the performance of the end to end Finance service to deliver service excellence to internal and external stakeholders.
Person Specification
  • A fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA)
  • A strong and capable manager with previous management experience
  • Experience of working in the public sector
  • Understanding of working in a complex finance function
  • Experience of leading the year-end and a competent Excel user
