Job Description

AS400 Technical ConsultantOur well renowned and rapidly growing client is looking for an experienced AS400 Technical Consultant to join their team based in Wilmslow, on a permanent basis. The AS400 Technical Consultant will join a dynamic team and will provide technical implementation and support to their AS400/iSeries customer base.The AS400 Technical Consultant will have excellent communication skills, a high level of personal integrity and a strong technical acumen.The AS400 Technical Consultant may be required to travel to customer sites on occasion, so a full UK driver’s licence is required. The role is predominantly Monday – Friday, with occasional out of hours/weekend work as/when required.AS400 Technical Consultant – Key Skills:

  • Previous experience in a senior technical role primarily focussed on iSeries/Power i/AS400 and storage infrastructure
  • Proven experience with system design using IBM Systems Planning tool and online configurator
  • A high level technical capability on iSeries/Power i/AS400
  • Experience of working in a complex enterprise-level iSeries/Power i/AS400 environment at third level or consultative support
  • Experience in overseeing all activities that optimise the value, cost and risk of applications and associated infrastructure
  • Design, creation, and implementation of custom CL scripts for automation as/where needed
  • Good knowledge and working experience of DB2/400,AS400 Query and SQL
  • Exposure to Cloud technologies such as AWS and IBM i Cloud technologies
  • Good Knowledge and experience of replication technologies Power HA and software replication related to configuration, implementation and ongoing support
  • Experience with BRMS (Backup and Recovery Services) design and implementation
  • Solid understanding of SAN technologies, Design, Management, and Implementation
  • Implementation and support of PowerVM technologies in particular the configuration and deployment management of VIOS (Virtual input output Server)
  • Pre-sales experience and estimation
  • Will be required to take part in out of hours support rota to support the business in adherence to contracted SLA’s
