Job Description

Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Willenhall Secondary SchoolReed Education is delighted to announce our support for a prestigious secondary school located in Willenhall, Black Country. We are currently assisting them in their search for a highly qualified and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) tojoin their team. This permanent position is scheduled to commence after the upcoming half-term break or in September 2023.Position: Head of Modern Foreign LanguagesLocation: Willenhall, Black CountryStart Date: After the half-term break or September 2023Contract: PermanentThe successful candidate will take on a pivotal role within the MFL department, leading a team of dedicated and passionate language teachers. They will play a crucial part in driving the success of the department and ensuring the delivery of outstandinglanguage education to the students.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the MFL department, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that meets the needs of the students, aligning with national standards and school policies.
  • Effectively manage and support a team of MFL teachers, providing guidance, mentoring, and opportunities for professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting a love for languages among students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to support cross-curricular initiatives and promote language learning outside of the classroom.
  • Engage with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and offering guidance on language-related matters.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Extensive experience teaching Modern Foreign Languages at secondary level.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of leading and developing successful teams.
  • A passion for languages and a commitment to delivering high-quality language education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment requirements for Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Familiarity with the use of technology in language teaching would be advantageous.
  • Remuneration:
  • The school is prepared to offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications, on the Upper Pay Scale (UPS) or Main Pay Scale (MPS). Additionally, a TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) will be offered to the right candidate,reflecting the significant leadership responsibilities of this position.
