Job Description

A leading speciality polymer business is looking to appoint a process development chemist into its technical team to lead the delivery of new chemical processes and successful scale-up of manufacturing chemical batches.This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate interested in synthetic, organic chemistry to join a growing organisation that can offer autonomy, leadership opportunity and career progression.To be considered you should hold a degree in chemistry or closely related discipline and possess previous process development and scale-up experience within a commercial setting.Process Development Chemist Responsibilities:

  • Improving the efficiency, robustness and operability of existing product chemistries and processes.
  • Improving understanding of the chemical reactions that occur during the lab and manufacturing processes.
  • Designing and carrying out laboratory scale experimental chemistry work to develop manufacturing processes.
  • Working on scale-up from pilot plant to full-scale plant manufacturing.
  • Apply good chemical understanding to practical problems within a lab-based and full-scale plant environment.
  • Ensuring new raw materials are assessed for safety and supplier approval.
Process Development Chemist Requirements:
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Practical experience and skills in chemical reactions and in a wide range of laboratory techniques.
  • Experience in Scale-up chemistry & skilled in data collection and critical/statistical analysis.
  • Computer literate in standard MS office applications.
