Job Description

Gerrard White are looking for an experienced SOX Audit Manager for a specialist group of insurance companies.The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the SOX 2020 programme and if required completing internal audits engagements.Key accountabilities:Lead the SOX 2020 programme in accordance with the audit/SOX methodology and professional standards.Expectations will include:

  • Perform and review process walkthroughs to build a strong understanding of key processes and identify key risks and controls
  • Apply risk and control concepts to assess control design and developing a test approach of the key controls
  • Review test of design and operating effectiveness of SOX controls
  • Communicate any issues with management
  • Manage the audit teams, delegate task and provide guidance to staff in the execution of assigned SOX process/ audits
  • Coordinate SOX 302 sub-certifications
  • Challenge and provide advice about risk and control considerations with a constructive and respected style
  • Be responsible for scheduling audit plans for the team members.
    • Suitable candidates will have:
  • ACA, ACCA, PIIA, CMIIA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent accountancy and audit qualification, with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience
  • Minimum 5 years audit experience, preferably in the general/life insurance and/or Lloyds environment and SOX regulation.
  • Excellent understanding of internal audit methodologies, risk and control frameworks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solvency II, FCA Conduct Rules awareness
  • Comfort at being a part of a global management team with a focus on a high level of communication, coordination, and consistency
  • Financial industry experience required, with insurance experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a changing landscape
  • Courage and ability raise tough issues directly with management and present findings with a clear, unbiased point-of-view
