Job Description

Job Title: Underwriting Assistant - Graduate / School LeaverLocation: LondonSalary: Up to around £25k + benefits depending on experienceJob Description SummaryThe purpose of the role is to assist Underwriters at the box in Lloyds and in the office with the scanning of risk information, ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry into the companys underwriting systems and undertake any ad-hoc project work or tasks delegated by underwriters as required. The job-holder will be responsible for their individual and group work baskets within the WASP workflow system. Given the context of the teams business, an interest in and basic understanding of geopolitical and macroeconomic affairs is required.Job Description

  • Ensure that all risk documents are scanned on to the underwriting workflow system and indexed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Conduct accuracy checks on the work of other underwriting assistants and PRO
  • Manage individual and group work baskets ensuring that all items are processed efficiently and in good time
  • Upkeep of quotes on the system and Team risk/pipeline log;
  • Support Underwriters with ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Assist underwriter analysis through the technical pricing model, exposure report, third party analysis providers and own research.
  • Reporting
  • Create MI reports as requested - such as RDS returns.
  • Monitoring
  • Remain alert to developments affecting the business of the Division, and in particular the efficient management of the section. Report on such matters, as appropriate, to Underwriters or Underwriting management;
  • Participate in the monitoring of premium payments and liaise with Brokers and CRT where necessary;
  • Participate in the monitoring of underwriting against the Business Plan drawing attention to exceptions where identified.
  • Customer RelationsPerson SpecificationThis role would suit a 2019 or 2020 school or university leaver who has studies a relevant subject: Economics, History, Insurance, Politics, International Relations, Maths or Business studiesGood communication skills, good MS Office (mainly Excel), strong attention to detail requiredThis role has a 50/50 split between working between Politics & Violence and Credit Politics Risks, and naturally we are seeking someone who is genuinely interested to learn and progress in these subject areasBeing interested and keen to gain exposure to the underwriting/politics world and understanding of how its used for an insurance providerThe prospects for this role is to become a Assistant Underwriter within a few years
