Job Description

Our client has asked us to recruit a specialist Facade Managerof the highest calibre committed to delivering technically robust,pragmaticand commercially soundoverviews and project plansforexternal facades and fire protection.

  • This position will mainly be based in (and around) London however they require national (and at times international) travel from time to time, so it is essential that the successful candidate is available and willing to accommodate this.
  • Surveying properties (residential and commercial) for the purpose of compliance with approved guidance and health and safety statutory requirements.
  • 3-5 years or more experience of working on complex buildings, including residential buildings for fire safety and life safety fabric and facade, cavity barriers, integrity between structures, fixed materials to facades or fabric of the building.
  • Understanding of MHCLG guidelines regarding external facades along with the Building Regulations, or ability to learn this very quickly
  • An interest in and the ability to understand and interpret building regulations, construction processes, legislationand requirements.
  • Is physically fit and capable of site attendance up to 50% of the time
  • Strong work ethic, creative problem solving and interpersonal skills, research and report writing abilities and good knowledge of the regulations.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and business prioritisation with ease.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Also: a full driving licence is required, due to the need to travel to sites.Key accountabilities:
  • Reviewing and critiquing plans for new and existing buildings in relation to external fabric design, construction and alterations;
  • Identifying and assessing the suitability of such façade arrangements, cladding systemsand fabric construction arrangements, in accordance with the advice notes and guidance issued by the MHCLG; and
  • Providing the provision of further guidance in respect of any additional fire safety matters including fire risk assessments, inspections, fire strategies.
  • Planning and managing further project stages to sample andprocessthe external fabric and co-ordinate expert analysis and reporting.
