Job Description

Job Title: Actuarial AnalystSalary:up to £37,500Location: London or EastleighActuarial Analyst: Our Ageas Actuarial Commercial team are looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join our successful London or Eastleigh office, with some element of remote working and/ or flexible hours.The Actuarial Analyst will play a pivotal role in reserving, pricing support, capital modelling support, performance monitoring and forecasting and other ad hoc projects. Current high profile projects the team are involved with include technical pricing reviews, the re-design and automation of key processes and Covid-19 claims and exposure reporting. As the department forms a key link between other departments, the Actuarial Analyst will work closely with individuals across all areas of the business, including Underwriting, Pricing, Finance and Claims, therefore strong numerical communication skills are a must.The Actuarial Analyst must have good working knowledge of commercial lines and a strong level of understanding of modern actuarial and statistical modelling techniques to be able to perform actuarial modelling and interpret results to help assist in quarterly reserving, data preparation and analysis.The Actuarial Analyst is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to progress in their actuarial career, who enjoys variety and autonomy in their role, is data driven and is flexible to explore and share ideas with the wider business to help drive business success.The main responsibilities of the Actuarial Analyst:

  • Carry out elements of the quarterly reserve reviews, as well as additional claims related analysis.
  • Produce analysis of Claims performance, identifying trends and features, including the interpretation and communication of suitable recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Working on ad hoc pricing projects with the overall aim of having a direct impact on profitability.
  • Enhance the teams capabilities by undertaking automation projects and adoption of new software, tools and techniques in analytics.
  • A pro-active use of available data to support the Underwriting and Claims functions in making effective and informed business decisions.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and interpretation of relevant MI in relation to the companys underwriting performance and pricing strength.
  • Communicate analysis and make recommendations to Underwriters, Claims Managers and Senior Management.
  • The successful Actuarial Analyst will have the following:
  • A 2.1 degree level mathematics/statistics or equivalent.
  • Pricing knowledge & experience; sound understanding of reserving and pricing analysis and principles and experience of a wide range of technical issues.
  • A good working knowledge of the commercial lines market and in-depth experience of Excel, Working knowledge of SAS
  • Experience with claims reserving software, for example ResQ or Psicle.
  • Skills in data analysis and programming packages, for example SAS, R, Python, is desirable.A high level of understanding of modern actuarial and statistical modelling techniques is essential
