R&D Engineer Junior CAD

Serve Talent have partnered with a successful Engineering business to recruit a R&D Engineer (Junior CAD) for their manufacturing facility based in Watton, Norfolk.£25,000 - £32,500Reporting To: The R&D ManagerThis incredible opportunity will see the successful candidate joining a motivated and progressive R&D department.The successful candidate shall be expected to manage an array of projects from small, standardised products to complete packaged solutions and take them through all stages of development with the aim of launching new products or product ranges for one ofthe several companies you will represent.To have an ability to generate new ideas & concepts offering new heating and control solutions for the oil and gas industry.Occasional travel may be required.The Employee shall devote the whole of their time, attention and skill to their duties hereunder and in addition such other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required of them for the proper and efficient running of the Employers business.Duties/Responsibilities:New Product Research and Development.

• To identify new product potential, create a project requirement and evaluate the products competition.
• Create concept designs and be able to refine them into functional products that meet the approved project requirements.
• Assess own designs and others, including manufacturability, cost, conformance to standards and quality assurance requirements accordingly.
• Work with third parties to procure components, test & certify new products.

Manage internal projects to include:

• Review existing product ranges and identify their strengths, weaknesses and redevelopment opportunities.
• Cost reduction exercises, evaluating new components or suppliers as well as internal methods and procedures.
• To provide technical support to internal departments as necessary on both product and build process activities.

Skills and experience required:Essential:

• Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
• A willingness and aptitude to learn how to use ProE CAD software to generate mechanical and electrical schematic drawings of your own design.
• Previous exposure to an engineering/manufacturing role.
• Understanding of 3 phase electricity (motors, pumps, switch gear and/or heating elements) with the ability to create point to point documents, electrically connecting various components and to generate electrical wiring schematics.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, hazardous area certification requirements and production control documents, such as work instructions and user manuals.
• Problem solving ability - concept development.
• Ability to work as part of a team and has good communication skills, as well as the ability to manage own workload.
• Commutable distance from Watton, Norfolk.

Desirable:

• Experience with 3D CAD, CREO (Pro-Engineer) is preferred but other 3D CAD packages will be acceptable as training will be provided.
• Knowledge of hazardous area product design within an Oil and Gas environment would be an advantage with specific understanding / knowledge of ATEX, IECEx or other Hazardous Area certifications.
• Experience with Bill of Materials for multi-item assemblies and products.
• Ability to write technical documents, such as build guides, datasheets and user guides.
• Understanding of reading and writing technical papers to further enhance our product portfolio.
