Job Description

Quantity SurveyorWe have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to complement our fantastic team inROTHERHAM (S63)About Us:GDMA Group is a property development and estates/ facility management organisation with over 35 years of experience within both the residential and commercial sectors, with quality being embedded into the very foundations of all our developments; resultingin the creation of prestigious living environments.Location: Rotherham (S63 Base) - visiting various sites within companySalary: Competitive (actual salary will depend upon qualifications, skills and experience)About the role:

  • Responsible for managing contracts and costs of multiple construction projects.
  • Carrying out studies of project duration and labour costs, examining and analysing material costs, coordinating supply deliveries, paying contractors, and giving contractors advice and suggestions on legal and contractual issues.
  • Utilize his/her skills, creativity, and with professionalism to ensure that building projects remain within a given budget.
  • Producing clear & concise budgetary reports for project team & directors.
  • Work closely with project team, senior managers, client & external consultants
  • Development of subcontract database & supply chain.
  • Provision of commercial expertise working within an existing business structure
Responsibilities:
  • keep an accurate record of project records and expenses by preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents, as well as keeping adequate and accurate track of materials and ordering more supply when required.
  • verify and gathering and giving reports to clients and/or stakeholders on claimed executed work of contractors, confirming the stage of work accomplished, and checking progress payments according to the accomplished work.
  • Liaises and work cooperatively with Project Manager site Team, clients, Consultants contractors, subcontractors, and other necessary stakeholders so that projects can be carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Preparing & submitting tenders enquiries to contractors analysing return costs, negotiating & awarding contracts.
  • undertaking feasibility studies, looking at the financial risk of a development and ensuring building regulations are met.
  • Examining, reviewing & assessing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Gathering and preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other necessary and relevant documents and forwarding them to the appropriate management or personnel
  • Providing advice, recommendations, and suggestions to managers and clients on innovative improvements and new strategies
  • Documenting relevant changes in design and updating budgets when required
  • Handling the payment of workers, vendors, and subcontractor
  • Adequate experience of construction estimating and/or finance minimum 3 years experience
  • Developing subcontractor data base & supply chain
  • Preparation of Bill of quants/actively schedule payments.
  • Developing & progressing forma documentation
  • Produce/monitor & report on cashflows.
Requirements:
  • Several years of proven work experience in a relevant industry
  • Ability to hold financial& progress meetings with accurate notes.
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills, adequate knowledge of construction, excellent negotiating skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to plan, organize, and strategize.
  • Good networking abilities, detail-oriented mind, great verbal and written communication skills, and good time management skills.
  • Degree qualified in surveying or related discipline.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Well organised
  • Professional, diligent, proactive, assertive, polite & diplomatic
  • Own Transport
  • Site & office based.
  • Undertake a CRB check.
