Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Managerto join the UKs largest specialist wine retailer!Do you have proven experience managing Payrollwithin a fast-paced, multi-site retail/commercial environmentDo you haveexperience managing a teamIf you have answered yes to these questions, Majestic Wine would be delighted to hear from you!The RoleAs Majestic Wine Payroll Manager youll oversee the payroll function ensuring that all employees get paid accurately and on time. Providingadvice and education to team members and employees in relation to pay issues, new policies and initiatives. Whilstalso being ableto lead on any payroll related projects.Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure monthly payroll is processed accurately including joiners, leavers, salary changes, service awards, pensions, job and department changes, inter region transfers.
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are met and staff receive their correct salary payment monthly and p45s are processed for leavers.
  • Ensure the payroll process and associated administration is carried out in accordance with the appropriate company policy and procedure.
  • Ensure the accurate calculation and payment of company and statutory payments to include: salary, bonus, service award, sick and holiday pay, statutory sick, maternity, paternity, adoption and parental pay, starter and leaver adjustments, and any othermanual payments as required.
  • Create and maintain accurate payroll procedures to ensure continuity of service during any periods of absence or staff turnover
  • Oversee the Freshdesk system (internal queries platform) and respond to escalated queries from the team
  • Provide the payroll company and Inland Revenue with accurate and timely year end data in line with their year-end procedures
  • Manage and reconcile the year end payroll to include P60s, P11dbs and Class 1A NICs, as required
  • Apply current legislation to all payroll practices and Auto Enrolment legislation for pensions
  • Manage the interfaces between Zellis, Rotageek and Harbour
  • Oversee the add hours process from Rotageek
  • Maintain company benefit schemes inc. company car, childcare, cycle to work, pension, medical insurance, dental insurance, simply health, season ticket loans and buy and sell holiday
  • Manage the company payrolling benefits process
  • Line management and ongoing training of 3 Team Members
  • Manage relationships with 3rd party providers (e.g. Zellis, Royal London)
Knowledge & Skills Required:
  • Minimum five years payroll experience
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Reliability and honesty
  • Ability to process intermediate functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with payroll softwareResourcelink desirable
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • CIPP qualification desirable
