The hospital opened in 1948. The hub of the Trust is locatedon the outskirts of Nuneaton and its services cover a large footprint, including north Warwickshire, southwest Leicestershire, and north Coventry.The Trust also provides a range of community services, delivered across Coventry, Warwickshire, and Leicestershire. These include sexual health and community dentistry services for the whole of Warwickshire as well as hosting the Blue-Sky Sexual AssaultReferral Centre.We are looking for a new member of staff to start ASAP at George Eliot Hospital, Collage Street, Nuneaton, CV10 8RF for the temporary role below to join the Porters team covering 6.00am-14.00pm, 14.00pm -22.00pm, 22.00pm -6.00am Monday - Sunday.Main duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide a portering service to all wards & departments. To escort and convey patients by wheelchair, bed, or trolley
  • To distribute food trolleys and boxes - and food items
  • To transfer various specimens or bloods to the pathology department and other wards and departments
  • To collect prescriptions and drug books from wards and departments and deliver them to the Pharmacy department
  • To distribute and change medical gas cylinders as requested
  • To attend fire calls
  • To assist at cardiac arrests
  • To transport records, X-rays, furniture, equipment, and materials
  • To undertake mortuary duties as required - viewings, BIDs
  • To report any suspicious incidents and assist where necessary
  • When required, assist with low level security requests
  • When required, assist with car parking duties
  • To cover staff in the post room - sorting incoming and outgoing Mail - distribute to all wards and
  • departments
  • To collect general clinical, waste - cytotoxic refuse and sharp boxes from all areas on site if required

  • Manual handling for patient movers
