Job Description

Role: Infrastructure ArchitectLocation: Leek Wootton ( hybrid 2 days on site)Advantage Resourcing are recruiting for a Infrastructure Architect on behalf of a Government department. A successful candidate would be able to hit the ground running with an experience of infrastructure architecture along side having the ability to focuson IT Technologies and the ability to lead during technical meetings.Main Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for Infrastructure during the planning, design, development and documentation of technical solutions, developing all related architecture documentation.
  • To undertake the role of Infrastructure subject matter expert for all Digital change and provide technical support assurance and guidance in designated area.
  • To ensure that the Digital infrastructure architecture meets all the relevant industry/national/legislative/compliance standards and demonstrates consistency of design across all Digital related programmes and projects.
  • To take responsibility for understanding strategic business requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and recommending options. Collaborates with, and facilitates stakeholder groups to ensure the contribution of all relevant stakeholders is maximised.
  • To deliver an environment of continuous improvement and innovation in respect of the infrastructure architecture and ensure that emerging technology and new initiatives are fully evaluated and relevant proposals are proactively driven through the technicalarchitect practice.
  • To ensure the infrastructure design meets the business requirements and digital strategy, leveraging industry standard infrastructure as much as possible. Identifying risks and providing mitigations options for these to the delivery team.
  • Responsible for impact analysis and quality assurance of infrastructure architectural design modifications to existing systems to support new solutions.
  • As part of the Strategy and Architectural function, to exercise excellent people skills (e.g.effective listening, empathy, insight and intellect) and to contribute to the mentoring, coaching and development of team members.
  • To be a core member of Strategy and Architectural function, to be a key influencer in respect of digital strategy, planning, assurance and standard-setting, both internally with key stakeholders and externally in driving maximum value from strategic supplierrelationships.
  • To represent effectively and promote the reputation and values of the business and the Digital Services Directorate at various meetings and groups both internally and externally, including the development of appropriate and constructive partnerships withrelevant organisations and areas of both forces.
  • To be commercially astute on infrastructure design, perpetually focussed on the service vs cost balance and take personal ownership, fully understanding and acting upon situations that require the pursuit of purpose over process.
  • To build and maintain relationships with the MSP and other suppliers with a stake in our reporting solutions.
  • To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
Knowledge:
  • To be educated to degree level (Level 6 in an ICT related discipline) and/or certification in ITIL, TOGAF/COBIT, Prince2, or an equivalent framework.
  • Substantial knowledge and relevant certifications in Cisco, SQL & Oracle, VMWare and NSX gained through significant experience in similar size organisations.
  • Experience in managing Cloud PaaS, IaaS in providers like Azure & AWS
  • Strong knowledge of Demand & Capacity Management alongside Supplier Management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of back up and continuity providers, like Veeam, Veritas, Zert
  • Successful in applying architectural tools and methods using industry best practice with a knowledge of ISO 20000 (Service Management) and ITSM.
Experience:
  • Demonstrate significant experience of infrastructure architecturein a similar large complex multi-faceted organisation.
  • Clear ability to think strategically whilst having a strong focus on ICT technologies and operational service delivery.
  • Demonstrate experience of translating user requirements into ICT service designs, being the subject matter expert from inception, through to delivery to the end customer.
  • Relevant experience demonstrating an aptitude for analysing systems, processes and operational procedures for continual improvement.
  • Ability to take the lead during technical meetings and help to drive discussions e.g. at programme level boards with associated stakeholders

  • Demonstrate a high level of communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to think ahead and anticipate/mitigate risks and find suitable solutions to issues.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with key stakeholders and suppliers with the flexibility to adjust approach and style accordingly.
  • Excellent people skills built on a combination of great listening, empathy, insight and intellect.
  • Ability to positively guide others and influence change within organisations
  • Confident in the ability to be professional and influential on key issues within portfolio area.
Special Conditions
  • Requirement to participate in on call rota.
  • Regular travel throughout Warwickshire.
