Job Description

Domus have an incredibly exciting opportunity for a PBS Lead Practitioner to join the largest provider of care for adults and older people with Complex Needs, in Sussex.The post holder will develop processes to improve the quality of specific Positive Behaviour Support approaches, evaluate the impact and make recommendations for service improvements.The aim of the post is to enhance nursing clinical practice related to Positive Behaviour Support within their homes.This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PBS Lead or a someone currently training and looking to qualify in PBS.Key Responsibilities of a PBS Lead Practitioner;

  • Ensure services utilise the PBS referral system when requesting support and manage a referral caseload.
  • Undertake holistic functional behaviour assessments via the referral system and demonstrate to staff and external professionals the function(s) of behaviour and design strategies to promote a reduction in behaviours that challenge.
  • Write professional reports for management and external professionals upon request.
  • Complete a range of holistic assessments other than behaviour that may contribute to understanding a person’s needs, e.g. sensory, environmental, cognitive, autism, vulnerability assessments etc.
  • Work alongside the person receiving support, staff and other professionals in designing a positive behaviour support plan that has been informed by assessments.
  • Promote the principles of Person-Centred Active Support within services and mentor teams to embed this into practice.
  • Develop key performance indicators that will measure the success of person-centred PBS plans and agree these following a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Facilitate post incident management de-briefs on the request of managers via the PBS referral system.
  • Support services in incident management reporting and recording standards consistent with policy and practice.
  • Ensure the regular update of the central PBS risk register and report immediately any PBS risk practices to the Senior Management Team.
  • Offer advice and guidance on PBS planning within the day-to-day operations of services.
  • Provide behaviour monitoring information to the Senior Leadership Team and provide analysis and context to explain the reason(s) for behaviour, trends, patterns and cycles.
  • Undertake PBS quality assurance audits where directed.
  • PBS Lead Practitioner Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a PBS Lead
  • Excellent Leadership & Communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ideally possess an MSc relevant to working with people with Learning disabilities
  • Will consider Intermediate PBS training (National Qualifications Level 5 or above)
