We are currently recruiting for a National Air Logistics Customs Manager to join our client as an integral part of their national management of customs processes and procedures.The National Air Logistics Customs Manager will be a senior role within the overall Customs & Trade Compliance team, whilst largely customs-focussed; there is a considerable customer service demand both internal and external with a focus on excellence and technical knowledge, ability and advice.The National Air Logistics Customs Manager must have an ability to service all Air Logistics-side customs enquiries and issues as they arise, without direct supervision and usually independently managed, is key to this role. The role demands a self-motivated person who is used to dealing with tight time schedules and sometimes heavy demand for customs services.Your role will involve* Independently, and largely unsupervised manage a team of 6 people on a day-to-day basis responsible for the customs processes and procedures,* Ensure that all HMRC Matters are dealt with accordingly, including Incoming HMRC mail / CCTO office enquires, Identifying and red flag compliance issues at shipment level and listing of un-cleared Entries reporting and resolving outstanding uncleaned entries. Working Closely with HMRC Shed Compliance reporting ETSFS BIP (Border Inspection Post) Inventory record safeguarding compliance matters * Export control compliance, ensuring high standards of export entry quality. Maintain LIC99 policy and manage Export Brokerage customers * Act as a Customs Helpdesk - Customs / Customer Queries internal and external - identification and resolution.* Account Manage customers customs activities / Full time. * Manage profit and cost centres and report monthly, including monthly P&L.* Available for frequent customer visits and support all team and verticals. With overall goal to increase Gross Profit and transition customs work into centralised customs at Heathrow Branch* Manage Customs Projects, for example: Developing and transitioning BPA for customs, Migration of Customs entries, Handling Post Entries projects with increased additional count and Projection plan for AC and PPRs* Managing, developing and implementing local and national processes, procedures, SOPs, Work Instructions, guidance etc. Experience required* Significant demonstrable knowledge and experience within the freight forwarding industry and ideally experience in a customs / trade compliance role* Must possess strong leadership qualities and people management experience and have previous experience of managing teams of at least 4 people* Vast experience in Customs activities including Customs Declaration and Customs brokerage* Knowledge of HMRC Rules and Regulations* A good level of IT literacy, knowledge of UK customs systems a must* Excellent Leadership, written and verbal communication and influencing skills* Sound financial understanding and commercial awarenessBenefits £45,000 To £60,000Healthcare After Qualifying PeriodPension up to 5% After Qualifying PeriodLife Insurance 23 Days holiday to start rising with length of service + Bank Hols Required skills
