Job Description

Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with a reputable and growing organisation in the Uckfield area. There is now a requirement for a Lead Software Engineer to join their office and lead the overall design & development of product-based software.The purpose of the role will be to lead a team of software developers defining and driving software development and implementation strategy.Key responsibilities:

  • Lead design & develop software strategy for bespoke hardware platforms for a range of time-critical company’s products
  • Manage software team to ensure completion of software team deliverables in committed timescales
  • Writing functional specifications and design documents
  • Developing test and validation procedures
  • Analysis of high level requirements into software design
  • Integrating effective various communication and software technologies, as applied to the company’s hardware platforms
  • Other duties as required
    • Person specification:
  • An understanding of C# and C/C++, with the ability to develop capability in other languages as required
  • Experience in Linux running on embedded systems ideally with an understanding of .NET Core
  • Experience in defining software level requirements and design using UML
  • Experience leading a team of software engineers
  • Ability to understand systems from both a systems viewpoint and a detailed component viewpoint
  • Strong system integration skills including testing and validation, to deal with external partner interfaces
  • Ability to communicate technical information to higher level management at a less technical level
    • Must have’s:
  • Communications protocols, e.g.RS485, TCP/IP, LIN Bus, ModBus., MQTT
  • Experience with unit/acceptance testing and writing testable code.
  • Version control systems e.g Git, Syn
    • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of electronics and/or electric motor applications is advantageous
