Job Description

Senior Cyber Security EngineerPublic Sector£55,000 - £65,000 Basic Salary + Bonus & Corporate BenefitsGreater London This opportunity is perfect for anyone who is passionate about Cyber Security and is serious about the protection of information. Like with any public sector body, information is one of their biggest assets and the security of this information needs to be at the heart of their business.I am looking for someone who is a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to liaise with wider business functions in order to champion awareness of Cyber security risks, keep the Senior Leadership Team up to date with emerging threats and any security related incidents that have required resolution and investigation as well as keeping policies and procedures up to date whist maintaining, developing and managing the ISMS.It’s worth noting that ALL Tech projects will require sign off from the successful candidate from a technical security perspective!Key Technical duties:

  • Commissioning of external IT Health Check(s) / Penetration Testing
  • Management of any remediation / security improvement work required for ongoing compliance with PSN Code of Connection
  • Advise on information security aspects of all new IT system implementations and change requests
  • Management of GCSX/PSN Accounts and use of secure email connections to central government and public sector partners
  • Take ownership of the regular penetration tests required by the Infrastructure Team and any remediation that follows.
  • Manage relationships with Security vendors to make sure contracts are being delivered on and we are achieving value for money.
  • Produce regular reports on a Dashboard to highlight the current status of the Infrastructure security. E.g. Patch deployment, Anti-Virus / Malware Status, Encryption status
  • Ensure IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes are aligned to business priorities
  • Project management / coordination of information security related activities
  • Maintain awareness of cyber-security threats and risks
  • Monitoring and development of the cyber-security systems and controls in line with perceived risks
  • Manage capital budget(s) associated with information security projects
    • Key GRC dutiesfor this role include:
  • Respond to information security audit findings and recommendations, providing advice and action.
    • Desirable Experience
  • 10+ Years’ experience working in a Senior Infrastructure Engineer focused role
  • 5+ Years’ experience in a Security focus role in a Medium/Large organisation.
  • Certified in CISSM, CISSP, CEH, CCNA etc. (Expired certs fine)
  • Microsoft Server Certified. MCSA 2012 and above.
  • Experience in getting previous places of work to a recognised industry standard for Security.
