Job Description

Quality Assurance Specialist (Food) required for 10 month contract (maternity cover), based in Manchester. Requiring proven experience in quality assurance, internal auditing and quality investigations, gained in a food/drink manufacturing environment. Title: Quality Assurance Specialist - FoodLocation: ManchesterSalary: CompetitiveTerm: Fixed Term Contract - 10 MonthsSRG is working with a leading company specialising in the production and refinery of food and feed products worldwide. They are now looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to join the team in Manchester on a 10 month contract to cover maternity leave. Working in a team of 8, the role will provide and maintain quality assurance and food safety for multiple internal processing operations. It would be ideal for someone with a strong background in quality relating to food, drink, bakery or dairy products.Benefits: Opportunity to work with a leading food manufacturer on a large site, with a wide range of processes, and implement positive quality improvements. Training provided. 37.5 working hours per week, 8am-4.30pm (some flex on start/finish times). 25 days holiday allowance, plus 8 statutory days, and enhanced company pension scheme.   • Maintaining and developing food safety systems, including HACCP, supplier approvals, traceability
  • Conducting internal auditing of multiple processes on site, ensuring compliance to all food safety, quality and legal standards (ISO:9001, FSSC:22000)
  • Identifying and investigating non-conformance and quality issues, using Root Cause Analysis and ensuring actions are implemented
  • Working closely with internal on-site teams to implement improvements and mitigate future risks
  • Using data and software to analyse quality trends
  • Conducting food safety and quality training as necessary

  • Available immediately or with short notice
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline - Chemistry, Food, Nutrition, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, etc.
  • Proven experience of undertaking quality assurance/internal auditing in a related industry - food, drink, dairy, bakery, brewery, food-grade chemicals
  • Operational knowledge of HACCP, ISO:9001, ISO:22000 and/or FSSC:22000
  • Able to demonstrate use of Root Cause Analysis for problem-solving
