Job Description

Assistant Accountant - 12 month FTCMorson are the UKs leading technical recruitment agency, with over 50 years experience, a turnover of more than £850 million and offices across the world, we supply engineers and technical expertise to some of the worlds biggest brands.We are looking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a key role within the business and a great opportunity to showcase your skills as well as develop within the role. It would ideally suit someone looking to take a step up into a ManagementAccountant (there is scope to take on more for anyone enthusiastic) or someone looking to take a back step in responsibility.The role is office based at our Headquarters in Trafford Park on a full-time fixed term basis covering maternity leave (this role has potential to go permanent due to growth at the end of the 12 months although we cannot currently guarantee this)Key Tasks

  • Generate and analyse weekly pay and charge reports. Identify any anomalies in margin and perform necessary investigations to understand and then resolve.
  • Issue pay and charge reports to branches and respond to queries
  • Review and correctly categorise invoices and credit notes, ensuring that any related costs are identified and documented
  • Analyse permanent placement revenue and assist with calculation of commission
  • Prepare and post month-end journals
  • Balance sheet and nominal ledger reconciliations
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis of monthly sales and costs for a variety of stakeholders
  • Collate recharge information and ensure clients are invoiced correctly and on a timely basis
  • Support in the audit and in the preparation of external statutory financial reporting
  • Support in data loads to the finance system
  • Assist with purchase ledger activities as and when needed
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required
Experience and SkillsYou will ideally be AAT Level 4 qualified and have demonstrable reporting experience across all the elements of management accounting, gained within an industry environment. You must be prepared to take a hands-on approach and get involved in all levelsof the analysis and reporting process. Excel will be a key tool in doing this so proficiency with pivot tables and v-look-ups as a minimum will be required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word/excel/outlook)
    • Intermediate-advanced level Excel is essential

    • Previous experience of working in a recruitment agency would be an advantage but not essential
