Step Forward (Tower Hamlets) prides itself in recruiting motivated, creative, flexible, resilient, skilled individuals who have a passion for working with young people to join our multi-disciplinary team.We are enhancing our team by recruiting 2 Counselling and Wellbeing Workers to expand the services we currently offer. We would welcome applications from people with knowledge and experience to support our work within Step Forward, local secondary schools, Youth Justice and health and wellbeing services.This role will suit someone who is a qualified, experienced and flexible counsellor with a passion for working with young people. You will need to be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will need broad expertise of providing counselling and support to young people aged 11-25.The Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker will be responsible for providing professional and confidential 1-2-1 counselling and support within Step Forward and our partner schools, agencies or other youth/health settings. The post holder would need to feel confident and competent in providing counselling and wellbeing support to young people in small - medium group sessions and deliver presentations to larger groups when requiredCounselling and support will be provided on an outreach basis in schools and statutory and voluntary youth settings and within Step Forward. This could include satellite session designed to engage with young people who may be less likely to access mental health support including young people who are looked after, living in supported housing and within youth justice services.At present many of our services are being offered remotely via telephone and online video calls. However, we will be providing more COVID safe face-to-face services to those young people who need this, when appropriate to do so and depending on national and local guidance policy and guidance. Please outline any experience you have in providing support to young people using different mediums in your applicationThe role will require the post holder to provide short, medium and longer term counselling/therapy and support to young people with a variety of presenting issues including; anxiety and depression; bereavement; relationship or family issues; sexual abuse; trauma; eating disorders, identity issues; sexuality and gender; difficulties in education; and low self-confidence or self-esteem. With some of our partner services we provide wellbeing support to front line staff to enable them in their role.
