Overview and Responsibilities Deputy Headteacher – Pastoral, Behaviour and Safeguarding – Aurora Wilden View School Location: Torton, KidderminsterSalary: £47,185 - £53,380 (L1-L6)Hours: 40 hours per weekThe Aurora GroupThe Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.As part of our growth strategy; we’re really pleased to be opening a brand new ASC/SEMH school in January 2024, Wilden View School in Torton, Kidderminster, for students aged between 5-19.Amongst a number of other new roles, we’re currently looking for a Deputy Headteacher – Pastoral.It is an exciting time to be part of Aurora and this is a unique career opportunity to make your mark on our growing services.The main purpose of therole:We are looking for an inspirational and engaging Middle Leader , or experienced Teacher ready for the next step, who shares our commitment and vision in providing an ambitious and therapeutic, person-centred learning environment for our students with ASC/SEMHneeds.Working collaboratively with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher for Education, you will have knowledge, experience, and interpersonal skills to develop our school in accordance with its shared values and our school development plans.The successful candidate will have responsibility for pastoral care across the school which includes leading upon: behaviour and attitudes, personal development attendance, well-being and safeguarding and pupil welfare.Key duties:

  • Deputise and undertake overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head Teacher or Deputy Head Education and on any other occasions where required.
  • Hold strategic responsibility for students’ personal development, behaviour and Safeguarding across the school and ensure that these areas are managed effectively and that all staff are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the Head Teacher and the Deputy Head Education to ensure that the aims, values and objectives of the school are achieved through an effective School Development Plan.
  • Ensure that all staff adhere to national standards and regulation.
  • Carry out staff appraisals as designated by the Head.
  • Manage and oversee the effectiveness of the TA group, including competencies, observations and feedback, deployment, and in-service development.
  • Undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead, and/or support the Designated Safeguarding Lead to successfully carry out their role
  • Maintain an agreed teaching commitment.
  • Lead, monitor and evaluate the content and effectiveness of the school curriculum in partnership with other key members of staff.
  • Lead and monitor pupil attainment, progress and behaviour.

  • Qualified teacher status.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Accredited training in specific areas of special education, e.g., Social/Emotional Needs
  • Recent management training
Experience
  • Show evidence of at least 5 years successful proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching.
  • Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice.
  • Experience of working with and developing links with the community
  • Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
