Job Description

Ferry Driver/Controller- Crew LeaderAn exciting position has become available for a full-time Ferry Driver/Controller based in Torpoint, Cornwall. The successful candidate will earn £30,208 - £32,698 for an average 39 hour week inclusive of standard shift, evening and weekend working allowances.As the senior crew member on the ferry the ideal candidate will be adaptable to change, quick thinking, operate well under pressure and manage concurrent activities. You will lead by example, line managing one of nine ferry crews on a nine-week recurringrota with a different set of day and night patterns each week to deliver the ferry service and meet customer demand.Previous experience in a similar role will be advantageous, but it is not essential as we are much more interested in finding the right person with the right skillset. However, you will need to have well developed IT skills, an excellent knowledge of Healthand Safety practises and SSOW and regulations.Role Requirements

  • Be a pro-active and assertive team player, with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrable leadership and management skills.
  • Attention to detail including accurate record keeping and report writing.
  • A proven history in an operational background and change management.
  • Good IT skills, fluent in Microsoft Word / Excel / Teams.
Role Responsibilities
  • The prime function of the role is to ensure the safe transportation of passengers and vehicles utilising the ferry service in accordance with legislation, maritime regulations and organisational policies and procedures.
  • This will involve high levels of customer service interaction, demonstrating strong team leadership and time management skills to coordinate the safe and efficient loading and unloading of passengers and vehicles, and, controlling the embarkation/disembarkationof the ferry to and from slip ways to meet a scheduled timetable.
Company Our client delivers an important public service to join Plymouth with the Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall. The service operates up to 3 ferries at any one time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
