Job Description

Job Title: Senior Mental Health Nurse (Quality & Improvement)Department: Clinical Governance Location: Hemel Hempstead or Tingley (Leeds)Do you have a keen eye for improvement around clinical governance in a mental health setting Can you follow strict compliance guidelines and ensure our members do the same Are you looking for a new challenge and would like to contribute to making a real difference in the NHSIf you answered yes’ to the above, then we’d love to hear from you!We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Clinical Governance Department as a Senior Mental Health Nurse - Quality & Improvement, based in either our head office in Hemel Hempstead or our Northern hub in Tingly (Leeds).The Senior Mental Health Nurse - Quality & Improvement will lead on developing and delivering NHS Professionals Mental Health Quality Management Improvement Plan, contributing to the following areas:

  • Work in partnership with the Trust to identify core skills, training requirements and development opportunities for NHS Professionals bank staff working in the Mental Healthcare environment.
  • Advise on recruitment strategy and support recruitment initiatives for bank Mental Healthcare professionals
  • As an advanced Mental Health practitioner and subject matter expert you will support NHS Professionals Deputy Chief Nurse/ Lead for Clinical Learning & Development in the development and implementation of a Mental Health clinical learning and development strategy for Mental Health Trusts.
  • You will work with a number of Trusts, lead on the monitoring, management, and where required investigation of bank staff involvement in patient safety and performance issues identifying lessons learned monitoring delivery of agreed action plans and sustained improvement.
  • As NHS Professionals designated Lead for Safeguarding responsible for developing policy and process in line with national guidelines & current legislation.
  • Accountabilities:You will be working with senior stakeholders accountable for the delivery of the Mental Health Quality Improvement Plan, making continual cycle of improvement monitoring through Key Performance Indicators.To apply for this post, we simply ask that you will be passionate about providing the best possible levels of Clinical Governance in Mental Health, through the demonstrable development of robust processes and procedures across a multi-stakeholder environment, and you will have:
  • An NMC Registration, with experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent level of experience.
  • Able to demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge that meets the training and development requirements of the complex nature of the Mental Healthcare sector workforce, with understanding of the learning and development needs of a range of staff (staff groups) both junior and senior groups across the Mental Healthcare sector including the NHS.
  • Evidence of continual professional development Evidence of continual training/learning within the subject matter field
  • Substantial experience at a managerial level in the NHS with evidence of involvement in line management, mentorship, and development of nurses and AHP’s.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with senior stakeholders, externally & internally.
  • Evidence of change and project management.
  • Demonstrable experience of the ability to work autonomously, initiating and organising workloads, delegating appropriately, responding to changing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ebility to process complex sensitive information and make difficult decisions
  • Evidence of quality improvement skills
  • Able to manage data systems and produce meaningful reports.
