Job Description

Job Title: Nurse Lead - Quality and Improvement (Acute)Department: Clinical GovernanceLocation: Hemel Hempstead or Tingley (Leeds)Do you have a keen eye for improvement around clinical governance in a Acute health setting Are you a subject matter expert in Acute Health and have a experienceWe have an exciting new opportunity to join our Clinical Governance Team as a Nurse lead, to provide - Quality & Improvement in Acute health supporting our members in our client trusts.This is a new role based in either our head office in Hemel Hempstead or our Northern hub in Tingly (Leeds).As the Nurse lead, you will support on developing and delivering NHS Professionals Acute Health Quality Management Improvement Plan, contributing to the following areas:

  • Identifies and reports thematic issues which affect flexible workers working within Acute Trust
  • Work together with line manager to ensure corrective measures are timely and reasonably available in partnership with client Trusts.
  • Provide expert advice to a team of complaints investigators which will help impact on the accurate and timely investigation of complaints and incidents.
  • Ensures that Local Trust Services and Account Management Teams are up to date with issues in the Trust relating to complaints with specific emphasis on serious complaints including Serious Incidents and Serious Safeguarding issues
  • Identify all learning opportunities to prevent complaints and incidents from occurring.
  • Identify all learning and share with relevant departments that arise from complaints and incidents that have occurred in Acute health care settings.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Flexible Worker Human Resources Team and the Complaints Team ensuring provision of appropriate support to flexible workers during an investigation.
  • Liaises with the Clinical Governance Nurse Manager and HR Department where performance management processes are considered necessary.
  • Presents evidence at disciplinary hearings and participates in Disciplinary Hearing Panels
  • Brings Subject matter expertise to complaints from client trusts.
  • Identifies performance improvement opportunities for flexible workers and client Trusts service needs, in partnership with client Trusts.
  • Contribute to the development of organisational policies and procedures relating to Acute nursing using clinical expertise to contribute to the corporate Learning and Development strategy
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge pertinent to the role reflecting current nursing practice and NHS Initiatives nationally and locally along with a portfolio of evidence for continuing professional development
  • Support new and existing business as defined by the wider management team, Directors, and the NHS Professionals Board of Governors
  • To apply for this post, we simply ask that you will be passionate about providing the best possible levels of Clinical Governance in Acute Health, through the demonstrable development of robust processes and procedures across a multi-stakeholder environment, and you will have:
  • An NMC Registration, with experience as a Registered Nurse in an Acute setting.
  • Evidence of recent Continuing professional development, with evidence of Slip (supporting learning in practice)
  • Extensive experience working in a healthcare setting or other equivalent experience.
  • Experience of dealing with the public and clients.
  • Experience of investigating problems and complaints.
  • Effective Report Writing ability, along with literacy & document presentation.
  • Calm, approachable and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Competency & person assessment skills
  • Ability to manage own workload and able to work unsupervised.
  • Record keeping and file management in line with NMC Code.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a number of key stakeholders across a wide range of professional and managerial groups.
