Job Description

SEN Support WorkerFull TimeTeaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a SEN Support Worker to help promote the learning and personal development of children with special needs in a school within the Thornbury area. This fantastic school located on a beautiful 32 acre estate provides pupils with a safe, secure and nurturing environment to develop life and independence skills. Your focus as a Support Worker will be to support several students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and assist with the schools drive to provide excellent academic education. These particular children have varying needs however most have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) or challenging behaviour so a level head and a calm nature is needed. The rewards with this particular role are apparent everyday, overseeing and developing a child’s understanding for themselves and the world is an inspirational task.Job Description

  • SEN Support Worker
  • Working with a range of pupils with Special Education Needs (SEN) and Learning Difficulties.
  • Working 1:1 with selected children (Varying needs including Autism, Down Syndrome and ADHD)
  • Assisting with a range of therapies, including speech and language and music therapy
  • Ensuring effective communication is maintained between staff and students
  • Support students with their education and overcome barriers to learning
  • Personal Specification
  • Experience with SEN students is ideal however not essential
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication with children with disabilities
  • Must show patience, enthusiasm and be committed
  • Passionate or an interest in SEN and Physical Disabilities
  • Own means of transport is desirable
  • Have some form of de-escalation training or willing to be upskilled
