We live by a simple set of values: to delight our customers, maximise our efficiency, be socially responsible and to promote being an employer of choice.We are currently recruiting for a Transport Operator on a full time, permanent basis at our Teynham site.Shift Pattern:Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 07:00-19:00Salary: £25,000- £30,000 per annumJob DescriptionJob PurposeAs a Transport Operator you will be responsible for the daily planning of Company and third party resources, effectively managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions. You will also ensure all service levels are met cost effectively and within the constraints of drivers hours and Health & Safety regulations.Key Duties

Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors.

To plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so.

Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.

Liaising with retail department teams to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery on time.

Close liaison with other operators and team leaders to discuss efficiencies and agreed operational practices.

To assist in the control of equipment, ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.

Effectively manage the balance between own fleet and sub contract requirements, identifying and suggesting any areas for improvement

Working alongside fleet to ensure timely return of vehicles

Working with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded in a timely manner

Working alongside the Supervisor to ensure that costs are managed in accordance with the KPI’s.

Qualifications

To be educated to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English

Proficient use of Microsoft packages - Excel, Word & PowerPoint

A sound understanding of vehicle planning within a transport environment or similar

Sound geographical knowledge

Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment

Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law

Experience of working within a distribution/transport environment

Experience of ESP, Microlise and Isotrack would be desirable
