Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Waste, you will be responsible for supporting the management of all waste supply-chain suppliers (Offensive & Clinical), and all operational sub-contractors delivering services across the UK for Washroom & Healthcare (Offensive & Clinical). This small team is the critical link between supplier services and the depots and oversee the bulk transportation movements between depots and from depot to the end waste disposal channel.The following list reflect the principal responsibilities of this role and include:

  • Fusing internal: Procurement, Fleet, Operations, & Finance teams in-order to deliver a coherent supplier and service channel that optimises profit and costs to phs
  • Challenging "perceived wisdom" with innovative and probing analysis
  • Designing strategy for the waste-supply chain in-order to achieve +90% sustainability
  • Preparation and distribution of internal KPI reports and dashboards for your areas of responsibility
  • Securing additional operational contractors in tandem with Procurement to ensure that phs seek and procure the lowest cost subcontractors that deliver requisite service quality
  • Work with the internal stakeholders to deliver a more cost-effective solution to the current operational contractor model in the future
  • Producing weekly & periodic reports regarding volume and supplier service capability
  • Reconcile and code all waste and subcontracted related invoices accurately and challenge where required ensuring phs achieve targeted net margin for each contractor used
  • Complete any necessary admin related duties related to supply chain such as maintaining databases of waste suppliers by depot, permit records, Duty Of Care audits.
  • The ideal candidate for this role will be:
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
  • Strong commercial awareness as well as a mentality to challenge data, processes and systems within the business
  • Previous negotiating and management experience desirable (Project environment)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Excel essential
  • Strong Power-point skills essential
  • Excellent & confident communicaton
  • Degree qualified (highly preferable with a relevant degree)
  • Ideally with previous Waste experience
  • Dedicated, well-motivated and result-driven self-starter
  • Meet deadlines and works effectively & at pace under pressure
  • Data lead
  • Strong information technology skills
  • Strong inter-personal skills, confident & out-going
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical colleagues and to management, including formal presentations
