This really is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified Fleet Manager who is used to the efficient management of company cars, LCVs and LGVs over multiple sites. We are looking for that special someone with the right mix of commercial awareness and knowledge of the fleet sector to be part of our success. Reporting to our Head of Fleet, you are joining our dedicated Fleet Management team in a fast-paced environment and will be supporting our national fleet operations across the UK and Irish Republic. Your role will be varied and interesting, taking in the legal compliance of our large fleet of vehicles and over 2,500 drivers, as well as managing vehicle down-time, costs, specifications and vehicle design, so will be perfect for someone who is self-motivated and loves to keep busy.We will value your commitment, expertise and proactive approach here. You will be an essential part of our supportive team, and key to success in this role will be the ability to work to deadlines and to maximise the availability of our vehicles. Some of the responsibilities are as follows:A day in the life of a Fleet Manager at phs Group will involve:

  • Effectively manage the availability of our Fleet of c.2000 vehicles to minimise down-time
  • Providing support and advice to ensure our fleet operates as efficiently as possible
  • Managing all aspects of cost control for rechargeable jobs
  • The provision of targeted MI to key stakeholders
  • Supporting Operators and Managers with sound advice and guidance on fleet issues
  • Identifying improvements that will improve our processes and reduce costs
  • The ideal candidate for a Fleet Manager at phs Group will have:
  • At least 5 years previous experience managing large multi-site fleets
  • Mechanical qualifications (such as City and Guilds)
  • A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • Demonstrable and detailed mechanical knowledge of vehicles (workshop or similar)
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise
  • In depth knowledge and commercial awareness of the fleet sector
  • A good understanding of vehicle engineering, maintenance and repair
  • Demonstrable skills in contract and supplier management
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a good level of computer literacy
  • A valid driving licence and who is able to travel (some UK-wide travel may be required)
