Job Description

Business Development Manager / Technical Sales / Scientific Sales (Basic salary circa £37000 OTE £44400 + uncapped bonus)We specialise in the global sale of specialist Scientific Equipment and Advanced Materials. This is a key permanent role and offers long term progression.We are looking for a positive, driven individual to take responsibility for a portfolio of Equipment for the Material Processing Sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly changing area of scientific innovation and with one of our largest manufacturers who we represent across UK and Europe. The role will beto seek out new business as well as maintain, grow and add value to our current customer base and has the support of a designated Sales Support Assistant.Package: Basic salary circa £37,000 OTE £44,000 + additional uncapped bonusBased from Tamworth Office, close to M42 and in Field.Product: Scientific Equipment and Advanced Materials.Job description: Business Development Manager / Technical Sales / Scientific SalesCandidates must have a strong B2B scientific or technical sales background with a minimum of 4 years account management with proven over target achievement; ideally with degree level education in Materials Science, Chemistry,or associated discipline, however candidates with good industry knowledge and experience will also be suitable for this role. You will be an experienced professional who is adaptable, approachable, and resilient who is committed to growing the income fromyour product portfolio.Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise networking and market research to identify new customer prospects
  • Proactively develop meaningful relationships with target customers, and identify key stakeholders to ensure we are the first choice supplier
  • Exceed pre-agreed revenue targets by developing and maintain a forward pipeline of opportunity for the business
  • Maintain and develop current relationships with existing suppliers and seek out new connections that will enhance the Company product portfolio
  • Present the Company to potential clients and suppliers through direct communication, face to face meetings, exhibitions, telephone and emails
  • Utilises strategic planning tools, CRM and market analysis to direct workload and focus of your Product Group and understand the competitive landscape
  • Liaise effectively with all departments within the company to ensure first class customer service and positive business development
  • Stay up to date with current research and development trends
Person Specification: A strong B2B scientific or technical sales background.A minimum of 4 years account management experience.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
  • Highly motivated and has a successful track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Innate attention to detail and the ability to make commercial decisions
  • Demonstrates pro-activity and accountability for their own workload
  • Attended customer sites and exhibitions, experienced in using online platforms to build client relationships
  • An enquiring mind and desire to stay up to date with current research and product developments
  • Be commutable or able to travel to main office as required, hybrid working is available
  • Knowledge and experience of using web-based marketing tools, Microsoft Office and CRM databases
  • Full UK Driving licence and access to own vehicle
The desirable skills are:
  • Clear understanding of the differing needs of both academic and commercial customers and how this impacts their purchasing processes
  • Educated to degree level in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Chemistry or related discipline
