It’s a taboo subject. We don’t talk about it enough but for those who experience it, it’s life-changing; it’s terrifying and disturbing. There is hope, though; there is support for those who have escaped or are trying to escape. And that’swhere you come in.We are looking for individuals who can provide emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.Empathetic and compassionate, you will be committed to helping those who have suffered abuse and will support them in taking their first steps to recovery. You’ll provide safeguarding for adults and children who need care and guidance, both with practicalsolutions and, more importantly, listening to concerns and fears; you’ll recognise when to offer solutions or just be a sounding board. These are roles that require a careful balance of sensitivity and resilience, as you will demonstrate an understanding ofeach unique situation and help show the light at the end of what will have been a dark and lonely tunnel. This isn’t just a job; it is being part of something rewarding and helping to positively change someone’s life.We are looking for someone who has experience working within a Domestic Abuse Service and truly wants to make a difference to people’s lives.You will work Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, however there will be some evening shifts (up to 8pm) and bank holidays too.THE SERVICEDerbyshire WISH provides refuge and community based (outreach) support to adults and children who are experiencing domestic abuse.We’re part of the wider NCHA family and we offer our services to both women and men (dispersed only) with or without children, who are fleeing domestic abuse and need a safe place to stay, and to those out in the community who are living with the impactof domestic abuse.All successful candidates will be required to take a basic numeracy and literacy exercise prior to the interview.Please note that we are not currently offering visa sponsorshipInterviews will be on an ongoing basisWhy work with usFor all the care you give, our benefits will help you to maximise your own well-being.
