Job Description

Female Domestic Abuse Support WorkerHave you got experience of working with individuals and families who have experienced Domestic Abuse Would you be interested in enhancing and developing your skills and experience as a Domestic Abuse Support WorkerThis post is exempt under Sch 9 Pt 1 of the Equality Act 2010 and is only open to female applicantsPosition: Domestic Abuse Support WorkerLocation: Amber Valley - location is within travelling distance of Derby and Nottingham!Salary: £19, 658 per annumHours: 37 hours per week, full time and fixed term until 31st August 2022Closing Date: Thursday 4th November 2021Interviews: are being arranged on an ongoing basisAbout the Role:This is a fantastic opportunity for you to broaden your current skills, knowledge and experience as a Support Worker at our clients Derbyshire WISH project which provides refuge and community based (outreach) support to adults and children who are experiencingdomestic abuse.Services include:

  • Refuge (including both communal refuge and dispersed (Individual safe accommodation) which is offered to both women and men (dispersed only) with or without children who are fleeing domestic abuse.
  • Community based outreach support working with women and men living in the local community who are living with the impact of domestic abuse.
  • Specialist support for children who are of have experienced domestic abuse (both refuge and community based support are available).
As a Support Worker, youll play a pivotal role in providing practical and emotional support to adults who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. Youll work with clients to assess needs and risks, and plan a package of support and risk managementindividually to them.The role will involve the provision of support both within a refuge / supported accommodation setting and to those living in the local community, in the Amber Valley, Erewash, Derbyshire Dales and South Derbyshire area.Please note it is a mandatory requirement to wear full PPE including a face mask in this role.Some of you other duties will involve:
  • Providing practical and emotional support to adults
  • Assessing referrals for both community and refuge based services
  • Safety and Support Planning
  • Supporting the delivery of group work both in refuge and local community
  • Travelling throughout service delivery area to deliver support and attendance at multi-agency meetings
  • Ensuring records (computer based case management system) are kept up to date and accurate
About You:Were looking for someone who has experience of working with and supporting clients who have experienced domestic abuse, and can demonstrate how you will use your skills and their values to support individuals and families experiencing crisis and trauma.You will be confident in the use of ICT, have a commitment to maintaining the dignity and rights of the individuals and families you work with; and have excellent communication skills to be able to communicate and connect with a wide audience.You must be willing and able to work 37 hours per week on a rota basis to cover shifts between 9 am and 7pm; flexibility to cover some weekends may be required.Youll need a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (with business insurance to be able to claim for the mileage costs), so that you can travel around the community providing vital care and support.In Return: Here are just some of the ways that our client can reward you:
