Job Description

Small, established but expanding IT solution provider seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior IT Support technician / Technical Manager to join the team. We specialize in providing IT support services to the education sector and SMB’s across Surrey and Greater London. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical support for a wide range of technologies, including hardware, software, networking and cloud services as well maintaining customer relations and leading a team of technicians.The Role: The role requires daily travel to customer sites within Surrey, however occasional home working to provide remote support to customers using remote login software, and travel to other surrounding areas is also expected. A full UK driving license is essential.A typical day would include working onsite at different customers premises maintaining, supporting and troubleshooting all areas of their IT infrastructure responding to support tickets and leading other technicians to meet customer SLAs.Skills: The successful candidate must have excellent troubleshooting skills, with high competency in administering Active Directory Domains and Microsoft 365, with excellent working knowledge of TCP/IP networking.They must be willing to travel between client sites, manage their time well and demonstrate excellent communication skills. They must be able to work to deadlines, either independently, or working alongside and leading a small team of technicians. They must be confident working directly with clients and have strong problem-solving and organization skills.A good working knowledge administering the following technologies will be advantageous.

  • Microsoft Server versions 2008 - 2019 and integrated services such as Group Policy management, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, folder security and printer management
  • Microsoft 365, including Azure AD, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and Intune
  • Other cloud services including G Suite and Google Drive.
  • Network protocols & principles, including TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, LANs, WANs, VLANs, VPN and WIFI security.
  • PCs, laptops and tablets including Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 10, Apple IOS
  • Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Office 2010 - 2019 (Windows & OSX) and Office 365
  • Configuration skills and understanding of routers, firewalls, switches & WIFI devices, including HPE, Draytek, Zyxel, SonicWall, Ubiquiti Unifi and Cambium.
  • Mobile Device Management solutions including and Meraki, Lightspeed and InTune
  • Web filtering technologies including Lightspeed and RM SafetyNet
  • Security & AV software including Panda, Sophos Central, and Sophos Endpoint.
  • Experience with common education MIS systems such as LGFL, SIMS, Engage, iSAMS and ScholarPack.
  • An understanding of broadband technologies including ADSL and leased lines.
  • An understanding of cabling standards Cat5, Cat6 and fibre.
  • Server hardware including HPE ProLiant and Dell PowerEdge (VRTX)
  • Experience working with and configuring VOIP telephone systems
  • Company car or van providedTo apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and must have a full UK Driving License. Job offer subject to successful DBS check£30,000 - £40,000 per year depending on experience
