Job Description

Head of Cyber Security

  • 6-month contract
  • £1000 per day (Umbrella only )
  • Immediate start - this is essential, they will be looking to interview and onboard within two weeks.
  • Financial Services - preferred but relevant experience outside of this also considered.
My client, a leading financial services organisation based in Surrey are actively seeking an experienced cyber security leader, to join them as an interim Head of Cyber Security. Within this role you will be leading a large team of up to 20 and as a resultleadership experience will be crucial. You will also be working alongside their newly appointed CISO, as the organisation embarks on a period of leadership change, alongside redefining their security function in to key pillars.Responsibilities
  • Build, develop, implement, and maintain a strategic roadmap for the evolution of the organisations security capability
  • Deliver an effective, comprehensive, professional service covering Strategy, Independent Control Assurance, and Project Portfolio Management.
  • Obtain and contextualise cyber threat intelligence, including from external partners, to assess the threat of cyber risk to the organisation.
  • Lead the planning and execution of red team and purple team exercises to identify security improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure control effectiveness over centrally and locally consumed security services is maintained through red and purple teams, routine effectiveness testing, and the use of key performance indicators.
  • Conduct testing of internal and external polices and legislation / regulatory standards to identify if security controls are effective.
  • Build and maintain an effective relationship with the Governance function to inform Education and Awareness campaigns, business communications, required change initiatives, audit and compliance submissions, and Group reporting.
  • Introduce and evolve a cyber task force which can swarm on cyber incidents, including incidents in the supply chain, to enable a holistic view of the cyber risk to be presented.
  • Ensure that cyber threats and technologies for detecting them are understood and adopted as appropriate.
Skills & Experience:
  • In-depth cyber expertise (minimum of five years) obtained in a prior senior leadership position with demonstrable experience of having run cyber operations, including red teams and ethical hackers.
  • Ability to operate at a hands on, cyber technical level, to support the cyber team in delivering ethical hacks, scoping and sizing red teams, and aiding in the technical planning of remediation activities within IT.
  • Demonstrable experience of building, developing, and leading hands on cyber technical teams across a diverse range of cyber topics within multiple businesses. In particular incident response and third party supply chain attacks.
  • Strong leadership experience in setting strategy, leading teams, and influencing across all levels.
  • Experience of working in a global organisation, balancing global and local requirements.
  • Familiarity and/or expertise of relevant information security and IT frameworks, especially ISO27001 Mitre Att&ck, NIST, and COBIT5.
