Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit Lamination Operatives to work on an ongoing basis at their facility in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.Duties will include;

  • Reporting any limiting factors to the shift supervisor and conversion manager and recording details on the daily production log
  • Checking raw materials and film specifications against the laysheet and production schedule to ensure they are correct, with no irregularities regarding size, treatment, coatings etc. or defects such as creasing, slack edges, loss of opacity etc.
  • Quarantining suspect raw materials and completing appropriate paperwork
  • Appropriate handling and use of hazardous adhesive substances; ensuring substances are stored safely; drums are kept lidded and appropriate PPE is worn to prevent exposure to harmful isocyanates
  • Monitoring contents of adhesive/hardener drums on the dispense unit; replacing drums when required; monitoring and controlling application of adhesive; checking dispense unit is operating correctly; checking glue mix ratio and recording results; reportingany issues to a leading hand and the conversion manager
  • Monitoring throughout production and frequent checking of samples to ensure goods are of the highest possible standard
  • Application of coldseal adhesive; utilising viewing equipment to monitor application during production
  • Utilising the Frontline Management Software System to report all engineering issues to the Engineering Department
  • Carrying out weekly machine safety checks and recording outcome on relevant documentation
  • Accurately inputting production data in to the work station computer. Ensuring that all shift time is accounted for using appropriate waste and downtime codes
  • Recording of relevant information; completion of paperwork and labels
  • Strapping, protecting and labeling any materials that are to be returned to stock
  • Operation of the boost treater unit; checking film treatment levels meet requirements
  • Application of PVDC coating
  • Manual handling of reels and use of lifting and handling equipment; loading parent reels on to the unwind unit and unloading finished goods from the rewind section
  • Frequent and thorough cleaning of floor plates, rollers and other machine components
  • Use and handling of sharp blades; setting blade holder unit to correct parameters when producing window jobs
Shifts:Follow a 4on 4off shift pattern consistence of:
  • 2x Day Shifts - 6:00am - 6:00pm
  • 2x nights - 6:00pm - 6:00am
Payrate:
  • £11.52ph
The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Previous experience of working within a Conversion department within the Print industry is ideal but not essential
  • Experience of working with a Manufacturing or Production sector preferable
