Job Description

Job Title: Senior FormulationChemistLocation: SuffolkSalary: Competitive and negotiable, dependant on experienceHoliday and additional paid leave: 20 days holiday plus bank holidays. After 3 complete continuous years of service, employees are entitled to 1 additional day per year, up to 25 days. After 6 months of service, you are entitled to 6 daysadditional paid leave which need to be used within 1 year. You will also get 1 additional day per year for your birthday. There is also additional leave given for the Christmas shutdown.Other benefits: Pension (5%, subject to employee contribution, flexible working (core hours between 10am and 3pm with a1-hour lunch break (35 hours a week)About the companyMy client is a multinational developer and manufacturer of homecare products that have become household names. They are truly proud of what they do and of the warm andfriendly working environment they have created over the years.They are also growing and will be building a new state of the art laboratory. There is potential for the right person in this role to develop into a R&D Manager.There are three main aspects to this role:

  • To lead the development of new and existing products and to ensure they are tested appropriately
  • To ensure that all products conform to safe and regulatory requirements
  • To manage and develop a small team and ensure they meet set performance standards
Additional responsibilities
  • Manage the scale up process including process validation, carrying out efficacy, stability, and compatibility tests
  • Provide technical advice to suppliers and customers and the production and quality team
  • Keep up to date with industry legislation (CLP, REACH, ADR, BPR and country specific regulations)
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Engage with new chemical suppliers when required
  • Deputise to Technical Manager in R&D and regulatory compliance matters
Qualifications and experience required
  • Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Strong chemical knowledge
  • Ability to carry out chemical analysis
  • Knowledge of homecare products e.g biocides, formulations containing bleach and other household cleaning products
  • Good data analysis skills
  • The ability to mentor a team and ideally you would have overseen a small team previously
  • Project planning and management experience
