Job Description

R&D Technician / ScientistThe role: To work within the R&D team with the focus on primarily developing the Microzone branded product range. This would include R&D to create new products and further development of current products in line with the companys goals.There will be a requirement to perform literature reviews of new techniques and similar.Transfer developed product to manufacturing.Duties & Responsibilities:Primary:

  • Investigating new and developing current product range as prioritised by company’s product pipeline requirements.
  • Maintaining records of lab work and reporting to and working with line managers.
  • Running required experiments and logically developing new test criteria for developing and producing a finished product.
  • Developing and prioritising lab & office work to achieve set goals.
  • Working to our QMS requirements.
  • Researching and inputting new ideas to product development database.
  • Keeping up to date on current and development within the technical field of Molecular Biology and other areas.
  • Working to deadlines and targets.
General:
  • Record keeping in line with our ISO standards.
  • Maintain updates on testing and forward planning of work schedule.
  • Occasional work in production to support team when required.
  • Participation in product design reviews and technical issues.
  • Continue development of knowledge and skill within area of work.
  • Other duties not listed above but needed to ensure smooth running and development of work, product and projects.
Person Spec:Essential:
  • Knowledge of and experience in the following Molecular Biology techniques:
    • PCR, RT-PCT, qPCR, LAMP
    • Nucleic Acid Extraction
  • MSc in relevant subject – Science / biology based and techniques.
  • Capacity to work within a commercial environment.
  • High level analytical skills.
  • Microsoft Office competent capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skill and capable of presenting work internally to colleagues.
  • Proven capacity to work well as part of a team.
Desirable
  • Knowledge or Next Generation Sequencing techniques
  • Assay development experience, in a commercial development environment.
  • Working within or familiar with ISO9001, 13845 etc.
  • Kit / Assay Development
  • Experience designing and developing methods for testing ideas and concepts.
  • Demonstration of working in Cat 2 environment.
