New Learning Support Assistant (LSA) OpportunitiesElmfield Rudolf Steiner School is located in Stourbridge, 30 minutes from Birmingham, Worcester and Wolverhampton, and only a few minutes from the Clent Hills. We follow the Steiner Waldorf curriculum, providing all-round education for children aged 3-17 years. We are the only school in the region providing a real alternative to state education. Our aim is to nurture creative confident, social, responsible young people and support them to reach their full potential.At Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School our Learning Support Team is growing! We are looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to fill a number of new posts.Do you have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Are you a Learning Support Assistant who would like to join our community at Elmfield and have the opportunity to work in a Steiner Waldorf schoolPositions range from 22 - 30 hours per week during school hours and will be paid at a rate between £9.64 and £10.50 an hour, dependent on the terms attached to Local Authority (LA) funding. The salary will be based on term time working (35 weeks) with an added component for holiday pay, calculated into an equal monthly rate over 12 months. The exact timetable will be confirmed with the class teacher on appointment. We are looking for individuals with skills and experience supporting children with specific learning difficulties (dyslexic-type difficulties) and processing difficulties to support children in their access to the curriculum and academic progress.We are also seeking individuals who have the right skillset to work with students with emotional needs stemming from anxiety, attachment difficulties and trauma. The positions are working with students from primary school to lower secondary age.You will be responsible for applying agreed strategies, maintaining records and updating our SENDCo with progress. There will be regular one-to-one work with students, often with a particular student whose needs are laid out in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). As well as supporting identified children within the classroom, you will be expected to join in and contribute to classroom activities with all children when appropriate.You will need to be a team player and should be prepared to independently research relevant conditions and attend relevant training to support existing knowledge and experience. A key requirement is the ability to see well beyond simply providing help, focusing more on enabling independent learning and progress.It is important to note that this post is dependent on the continuation of EHCP funding from the Local Authority.
