Job Description

Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School is located in Stourbridge, 30 minutes from Birmingham, Worcester and Wolverhampton, and only a few minutes from the Clent Hills. We follow the Steiner Waldorf curriculum, providing all-round education for children aged 3-17 years. We are the only school in the region providing a real alternative to state education. Our most recent Ofsted inspection rated all areas of the school as "Good".We are committed to inspirational, hands-on, creative education, which fosters a lifelong love of learning and gives young people an outstanding preparation for life. Our aim is to nurture creative confident, social, responsible young people and support them to reach their full potential. Were looking for an exceptional individual to join our team of committed teachers as a Class Teacher. You should be a creative and inspiring teacher, prepared to take a group of children on a journey of learning and development.The Class Teacher will be responsible for both classroom teaching and pastoral care for a year group of children between the ages of 6 and 14 years in accordance with our educational philosophy, policies and procedures.Essential selection criteria:

  • An approved Steiner Waldorf Teaching Qualification plus teaching experience OR state teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE + QTS) plus knowledge of Steiner Waldorf Education.
  • Appropriate degree level qualification
  • Track record of designing and delivering inspiring lessons in a Steiner Waldorf School
  • A genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • Willingness to play a full role in the school community
  • Commitment to bring learning alive using the outdoors, music, drama, the arts or other sources of inspiration.
  • As a member of our College of Teachers, you will also be expected to contribute to curriculum development, and may be asked to take on additional responsibilities as required. As with all teaching posts, youll also need a minimum of grade C in GCSE English and Maths.
