Job Description

Have you had experience working as an educational, activities or engagement officer working with vulnerable adults Do you hold the necessary skills and experience to inform, empower, coach, and inspire people to move forward positively with their livesIf you do, then we have a fantastic opportunity for a strength based, Wellbeing Worker to work within our male only 24/7 Homeless Centres in Liverpool.In collaboration with our Support Coaches and Project Manageryou will motivate and engage vulnerable malesthrough developing and delivering trauma aware, strengths-based programmes of learning, activity, and engagement to assist with the overall aim of residents achieving independence and recovery from homelessness. Our service offers psychologically informed ways of supporting and working with clients which is assisted by a Senior Assistant Psychologist who works along all on-site staff to ensure that work undertaken is trauma aware, focussed and bespoke to individualsaccessing New Starts support. The Wellbeing Worker will also be supported and included within this context via accessing reflective practice and a series of psychological training sessions delivered in-houseThe Well-being Worker post will operate on a part time basis, working 30 hours per week. The shifts will consist of earlies and lates across a four-day period per week and will include weekends on a rota basis. In return, you will receive an hourly rateof£11.22 per hour.New Start is a family-run, not-for-profit organisation, providing residential and supported accommodation services for vulnerable adults, families, children, and young people. We deliver a diverse range of homelessness projects and temporary housing solutions,helping some of the most complex and disadvantaged groups across Merseyside. The services we provide aim to enhance lives by offering good quality homes and structured support; encouraging clients to achieve independence and engage in constructive opportunitieswhich will enable them to live a more fulfilled and enriched existence.Responsibilities of a Wellbeing Worker.

  • Responsible for the co-ordination, planning and delivery of wellbeing activities, liaising with our in-house Support Coaches and Project Managerto help achieve a balanced and bespoke activity offer within each project.
  • Collaboration and communicating with other external stakeholders in relation to Education, Training and Employment (ETE) opportunities and specialist training based on the needs of the individual.
  • Ensuring that all activities or engagement interventions are appropriate to the individual/ resident group’s needs, entertaining, motivating and engaging residents by creating a tailored approach, linking all activities to assessed social needs.
  • Create opportunities for co-production; enabling residents to become a central part in how our services are shaped and delivered and utilising their voice and experience as a platform in which to better build our programmes
  • Offering opportunities to our residents that build on their interests and create new experiences to support their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • To create detailed activity/trip/excursion plans and risk assessments and following each session create an activity report and individual write up for each resident.
  • To co-ordinate/facilitate an on-site activities schedule to engage residents and support their recovery and personal development.
  • To empower service users to work towards their future hopes and aspirations as part of their move on plan alongside the services Support Coaches.
  • To provide updates to the Project Manager in terms of co-production, service user engagement, changes to the activity timetable to increase service user engagement or suggestions for new activities.
The right candidate will be:
  • A confident, happy person with the ability to motivate and deliver engaging activities to a group of people.
  • From an engagement, education or support role background, with experience of supporting people with a varied range of needs, including those with complex needs.
  • An excellent team player who will go above and beyond to support staff and service users within New Start services.
  • Creative flair with keen interest in specific areas, which may include Cooking, Arts & Craft, Music, or the outdoors.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable.
