Job Description

My client is an Investment Management & Financial Planning firm, bringing together decades of experience in financial planning and advice, supported by specialists in investment, tax, pensions, wills, trusts and more.We are seeking an experienced Paraplanner to join existing teams within our Sheffield offices. You will be responsible for the prompt, efficient and effective delivery of our Financial Planning service primarily through the delivery of written advice / reports, you will provide technical support to Advisers of the firm, ensuring all recommendations are accurate and in line with the needs of clients.You will specifically:

  • Provide relevant advice and compliantly via suitability letters and reports, maintaining agreed productivity levels
  • Ensure all output including suitability reports meet the minimum compliance standards as set out by the company
  • Undertake and fully document product and fund research
  • Obtain up to date information from providers (valuations, withdrawals, charges, transaction histories, etc.)
  • Obtain forms and documentation (transfer, fund switch, tax free cash, etc.)
  • Compile charge information (e.g. OCF charges, weighted charge calculations, etc.) to support Ex-Post and Ex-Ante disclosure
  • Undertake and fully document tax calculations, including but not limited to Capital Gains Tax, Income tax [including bond withdrawal/top slicing calculations], Pension maximum funding calculations [including carry/forward/taper]
  • Undertake replacement product analysis in accordance with company policy
  • Set up clients/create expectations with product providers e.g. Standard Life wrap
  • Sourcing fund fact sheets & KIIDs
  • Analysing portfolios against internal models and structuring recommendations with reference to internal buy/hold/sell lists
  • Investigation of available funds for closed architecture products and completion of fund/product concession requests where necessary
  • Create and issue Letters of Authority
  • Ensure fees, costs and charges are being collected correctly, where appropriate
  • Scan, package and issue reports
  • Accelerate completion of case work deemed urgent.
  • Creation of base plans and agreed what if’ scenarios primarily using Voyant cashflow modelling
  • Obtain Illustrations, fund fact sheets, KIIDs documents and all related Compliance documentation
  • Ensure that recommendations are summarised accurately to minimise the risk of execution errors
  • Maintain CRM software (primarily Intelligent Office) and any document management systems
  • Other duties as required and requested to ensure the smooth running of the company as a whole
  • Review case work and provide information when necessary in accordance with internal procedures and independent third-party assessors
    • We are seeking a experienced (2+ years) Diploma qualified Paraplanner (or very close to Diploma qualification with experience), with strong research and analytical skills, with a working knowledge of working with Financial Planning products including Life Insurance, Personal Pensions and Investments. It would be to your advantage if you have any experience of systems such as Intelligent Office, FE Analytics or Voyant, or similar.A great salary is offered for the role, with a good solid benefits package.
