Job Description

The Role: This role requires a Qualified Actuary, or someone with substantial practical work experience at this level. The role will involve supporting the development of a variety of different tasks across the M&A team. The role holder will report to the Head of Methodology & Assumptions. The wider team is responsible for:

  • Base balance sheet assumption setting including renewal expenses, investment management expenses, persistency, non-annuitant mortality and morbidity;
  • Quarterly experience monitoring and reporting;
  • Pension scheme deficit, methodology and expense allocation;
  • TMTP calculation methodology and ad-hoc TMTP applications;
  • Capital methodology and assumptions including non-market risk calibration methodology and dependencies reviews;
  • Various underpins including Poland, transformation, etc
  • Support Internal Model Validation, Chief Actuary, GwIA and External audit reviews and address findings;
  • IFRS17 delivery and embedding; and
  • Documentation & policy reviews
Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&Gs operational risk.
  • To lead the production and delivery of the tasks for which the role holder is responsible.
  • To ensure appropriate governance.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Qualified Actuary, or quantitative specialist with similar work experience.
  • Strong technical ability in order to provide oversight of work.
  • Knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks
  • Ability to identify, recommend and implement improvements to processes and policies
  • A track record of successful delivery in pressured environments with the ability to cope with competing demands.
