Job Description

Job Title: Land ManagerLocation: Stirling (with potential for hybrid working)Salary: £50-£55KOur client are looking for an experienced Land Manager to deliver full land assembly packages for the development sits within the Renewables forward programme. Is this youThe Company:Being a leading developer, owner and operator of Renewable Energy Assets, primarily Onshore Wind Farms, operating in all parts of the Energy Value Chain in this Global Market. Developing Renewable Energy production in the UK and Scandinavia, managing allphases from concept development to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operations.Our client want you to be a part of responsibly developing and operating Renewable Energy Projects by supporting country-wide communities to help create a sustainable future.The Job:Reporting to the Senior Land Manager, you be primarily responsible for negotiating Heads of Terms and securing Options and Leases (and any other alternative structure) for full land assembly packages.Working closely with the Construction team, you will be involved in exercising Options and entering Leases in line with construction programmes, Option/Lease obligations, and construction technical requirements.Assisting in the search for new UK sites, building a pipeline of projects capable of achieving objectives, and will be involved in the management of live leases.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Land agreements and land rights across the Development Forward Programme and Operational Sites, including all associated risks, requirements to de-risk and obligations related to these agreements and rights.
  • Working with the Construction team to ensure Options to Lease are in line with expected requirements, maintain communication with landowners, agents and other key stakeholders.
  • Working closely with the Commercial Manager for rental reviews and decommissioning bonds, whilst ensuring the team are updated in a timely manner when certain trigger dates are due on Operational Wind Farms.
  • Advise FORL on best practice management on their land assets, ideally including environmental responsibilities and obligations. Take a central role in delivering Land Rights and any associated Land Matters.
  • Representing the Company in negotiating viable and cost-effective Land Deals that allow Renewable Energy Projects to progress from initial site research through to agreed Heads of Terms in a time manner - thus allowing external legal firms to assist inconcluding legal contracts.
  • Negotiate and secure Land Assembly Packages on development sites for the Company across the UK, as may be agreed from time to time with the Snr. Land Manager and UK Development Director, which fulfil the requirements of the Company as set out by the RenewablesBoard.
  • Provide support to the wider team in their efforts to develop a successful business plan and specific help with land and business development areas.
  • Identify and make initial approaches to landowners on behalf of the Company for any proposed development sites. Instruct and effectively manage land agents, consultants, and external solicitors in relation to securing land agreements and maintaining existingoperational agreements.
  • Represent the Company professionally, establishing and maintain good relationships with landowners, tenant farmers, land managers, forestry managers and all those who own and manage land to ensure they are well informed of developments and progress.
  • Assist with any Due Diligence activities on land and property matters in relation to any acquisition and/or sale opportunities.
  • Occasional requirement to represent the Company at liaison meetings, consultations, landowner meetings, etc.
  • Work with the wider FORL team members to achieve both individual and corporate Key Financial and Non-Financial targets.
NB: Duties may vary from time to time due to new legislations, changes in technology, or policies. Appropriate training will be provided in any of these events.Experience Requirements and Desirables:
  • Degree-level educations (ideally in Rural Surveying, Estate Management, Geography, or any relevant discipline).
  • Professional Qualification and/or experience related to Land/Property/Legal/Energy - (A Maintained Chartered Surveyor status or demonstrate progression towards Chartered-ship is desirable).
  • Specialist knowledge of Land Agreements and familiarity with Property Law is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of Land and Property Assembly and Project de-risking - (Experience in taking Land Assembly from Development to Construction stages is desirable).
  • Sound Knowledge of Sustainable Land Management Practices - (A good understanding of the farming and forestry sectors is highly desirable).
  • Up-to-date understanding of the Energy Markets and issues, pertinent to the valuable of land for Renewable Energy Projects is also desirable.
Additional Skills:
  • Excellent Communication skills (oral and report writing) with strong Interpersonal skills. An ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively to a wide range of people and personalities.
  • Confident Influencing and Negotiation skills. Enthusiastic and positive attitude, with a strong work ethic.
