Job Description

Volunteer Engagement ManagerCirca £33,000 to £37,000 per annumStevenage, HertfordshireWe are looking for a Volunteer Engagement Manager to join the IET family!We are the IET and we inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world. This role will work a lot with volunteers so ideally you will have experience managing volunteers and collaborating with a range of stakeholders, organisations or schools. Experience in writing and developing programmes and strategies and experience or knowledge of managing funding and grant schemes would be advantageous.This role will be known internally as Education Manager: Regional Liaison’.Take a look at the day to day responsibilities and key skills below.   • Manage links between STEM support organisations and the IET Local Networks (LN) undertaking local schools activities, including: providing information about resources and services, building effective relationships, ensuring effective communication of IET educational strategies, policies, projects and initiatives to the LN Schools Liaison Officers (SLO) and members
  • Management of the joint institution (IET and IMechE) financial support for educational activities organised with the support of members, including: Publicising the availability of funding to STEM support organisations and member networks, selecting activities to fund and obtaining reports, attending, and approving minutes of the awarding panel meeting
  • Coordinating with the partner organisations (IMechE) to identify members of the awarding panel, communicate news of successful projects to a range of key stakeholders.
  • Management of the Institution’s financial contribution to the IET, Institute of Physics (IOP) and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) School Grants Scheme to support educational activities including publicising the availability of funding to Local Networks
  • Collaborate with the other scheme stakeholders to maintain and improve procedures and administrative tools for advertising funding, selecting activities to fund and obtaining reports
  • Management of the IET STEM Ambassadors (volunteers) including: producing and implementing a communications plan for informing IET STEM Ambassadors about developments and opportunities for them to engage with key audiences, communicate engagement opportunities, formulating a recruitment strategy for new IET STEM Ambassadors, work with STEM Learning to gather data on the engagement between IET STEM Ambassadors and their local schools wherever possible, encouraging IET STEM Ambassadors to report their activities to STEM Learning
  • Be responsible for the Schools Liaison Officer (SLO) network, including: development of policy guidelines and support systems encouraging efficient and effective collaboration with local and regional activity delivery organisations, ensuring representation in local networks and dissemination of information, managing the development and production of new resources to support schools activity
