Job Description

Jewish Care is making plans to re-open all of our community centres again. Are you a people person, looking to be part of a fantastic team in a great environment who makes a real difference to the lives of older people The Community Centre ActivitiesAssistant is a client facing role, responsible for delivering activities and events for older members of the Jewish Community, and working closely with the volunteer workforce.These posts are for 24 hours per week. The actual salary for 24 hours per week is £12,579 per annumYou will be responsible for front line delivery of day services to Jewish Care members.You will be responsible for:

  • Day-to-day operational delivery of culturally specific Jewish Day service for older people, people living with dementia and associated programming and events.
  • Running and taking part in activities and programming across service responsibility in line with agreed standards
  • Work collaboratively with programming teams to set up appropriate technology to support members taking part in activities at home.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to take part in safeguarding concern enquiries, follow up appropriately and to enhance the quality of life of older people.
  • Where required, carry out actions as indicated in a persons care plan or associated documents and in collaboration with internal Social Work colleagues, relatives, and external agencies to ensure members with higher support needs can participate safely.
  • Where appropriate and in partnership with the Senior OT (dementia lead), promote the Montessori approach to dementia care.
  • Participate in the effective and safe delivery of transport services across the older peoples services in collaboration with drivers.
  • Supporting members to coordinate and organise their transport arrangements to and from the centre to include help with booking and managing dial-a-ride, other community transport private hire and public transport.
  • Working collaboratively to support the Hub Manager specialisms of Community, Digital, Dementia and Programming to ensure that the Community Services team can effectively share best practice and work in partnership to deliver outstanding services that areconsistently meeting the needs of our current and future client group.
What you will need:
  • NVQ level or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a front-line role, working with older and/or disabled people
  • Minimum 2 years experience of working with people living with dementia in a personal or professional role
  • Experience leading a team of volunteers
  • Experience working in a complex multi stakeholder environment
  • Experience of or an interest in working in a co-production culture
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, across all levels of observance, local parlance, and festivities
  • Knowledge of The Care Act, The Mental Capacity Act, DOLS and general adult safeguarding best practice
  • Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations and their practical application in day to day operational work
  • Ability to ensure that Jewish Care can continuously improve its services through rigorous management, monitoring and measurement against business plans, budgets, targets and KPIs
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience
  • Ability to work empathetically and respectfully with people of all ages and abilities
  • Outstanding administrative, management and organisational skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets
  • Ability to use own initiative and work independently
  • Ability to handle challenging situations gently, with confidence and integrity
  • Ability to lead and be led amongst a highly creative and collaborative peer group
  • Ability to work in a team and build trusting relationships with others
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence people at all levels, both within and outside Jewish Care
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and able to think clearly under pressure
  • High levels of IT literacy in the use of modern business systems e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and cloud-based services and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
