Job Description

About the Company Talent84 is delighted to be exclusively representing our client, a industry-leading electrification technology business with a global network of engineering centres, at the forefront of technology in their field in the recruitment of a Technical Buyer Assistant. About the Role Reporting to the the Technical Buyer, this is a brand new role tasked with supporting the smooth operation of the UK engineering centre (UKEC, with a focus on Technical sourcing and procurement, quality and UKEC Office Support.The Technical Buyer Assistant, will provide technical purchasing and sourcing support to the engineering development team. The role will locally support UKEC with component costings for project proposals, RFQ’s and all costing exercises required during theproduct development phase. Main Responsibilities

  • Acts as a bridge between engineering and sourcing/purchasing for the UKEC site.
  • Performs CCR’s (critical components reviews) and BoM costings for all UKEC development projects at each project phase gate.
  • Quotes all new components, obtains cost estimates, lead times at all phase gates of a project: alpha, beta, pilot.
  • Based on lead times, works with purchasing to ensure that components are in place at the factory for beta, pilot and production ramp up.
  • Reviews all BOM’s for RoHS compliance/accuracy.
  • Places PO’s for Engineering samples, beta and occasionally pilot builds.
  • Monitors all manufacturers PCN’s (product change notices).
  • Identifies, monitors and tracks all EOL (end of life) components in UKEC designs, and informs appropriate design team.
  • Purchases components from local distributors to support alpha and beta engineering builds.
  • Assists UKEC Management team with purchasing equipment, lab supplies, services etc.
  • Deals with good received, and co-ordinates supplier payment with the Northampton office.
  • Responsibility for all UKEC non-project specific purchasing activity such as general laboratory components, equipment (incl. Dynos), samples, servicing/maintenance contracts, Car Hire, etc. It will involve the use of both Corporate Credit Card and Sytelinepurchases.
  • The role will take responsibility to ensure all goods received in accordance with the UKEC company processes. The role will also include supporting activities for the provision of office consumables, such a stationary, photo-copier, coffee machine maintenance,and support visitor / customer meetings
About you To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable purchasing/procurement experience gained in an electromechanical/ engineering environment with an organisation that designs and manufactures technical products. You will ideallypossess experience of the purchasing of components.You will possess strong analytical skills, good communication, and interpersonal capabilities to work in a team and make a joint effort towards a common goal. Key selection criteria
  • CIPS qualification desirable
  • Experience of all aspects of purchasing / buying goods and services.
  • Experience of general supplier / contract management
  • Electronic component purchasing experience for an electronics manufacturer preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (INFOR-Syteline preferred), MS Office, etc.
  • Prior knowledge of various components electrical and mechanical characteristics.
  • Building relationships with component suppliers
  • Familiarity with engineering and design practices and standards including ISO 9001.
  • Good knowledge of electronic component manufacturers and distributors.
  • Knowledge of sourcing mechanical parts.
  • Knowledge of sourcing external services, such as validation testing, software licences, and facilities management
  • Flexible, self-starter with high standards for quality with a hands-on, multi-tasking orientation.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Eager to learn and understand the product
