Job Description

Tactical Buyer / Material Planner (FTC)Competitive FTC Salary The Company: My client is a world leader in motion and fluid control technologies with a long history of innovation and technical excellence. A global engineering business, their focus is on local markets, niche products and services with a positive approach to communitiesand the environment. The Role: As a result of an increase in workload, a position has opened for a Tactical Buyer / Material Controller on a 6 month fixed term contract. As Tactical Buyer / Material Planner you will:

  • Manage all tactical aspects of direct production suppliers in order to;
    • secure the supply of parts, in a timely and cost-efficient manner
    • ensure correct inventory levels
    • ensure ongoing production requirements are met on time through the development and implementation of material schedules.
    • Ensure MRP parameters are set correctly to support the above.
    • Manage the day-to-day workload ensuring timely action of MRP messages, expedite, ensure supplier orders are aligned with production demand, ensure planning parameters and stock holding reflects current and or future demand.
Responsibilities:
  • Be the primary point of focus for nominated incoming production supplies, providing accurate delivery commitments to the Stakeholders.
  • Manage inventory levels through use of the MRP & associated systems/reports.
  • Manage PPV to achieve the most competitive pricing at either unit price or the lowest Total Cost of Acquisition in relation to any sourcing activities assigned to you.
  • Drive Supplier On Time Delivery in Full (SOTIF) to the agreed target. Effective front line delivery assurance actions completed prior to utilisation of the escalation process to address on-going / repeat concerns.
  • Be supportive of the day-to-day management of all supplier accounts and work with the Operations & Supply Chain teams to resolve any urgent supply issues.
  • Establish regular reviews with key suppliers using standardised reporting mechanisms and procedures to drive performance improvement.
  • To conduct regular supplier order book/general reviews, in maintain part availability and establish any short term/long term bottlenecks to supply.
About You:
  • Previous experience of buying procedures and process is essential
  • Experience of development and implementation of MRP material schedules
  • Experience of Advanced Data Analysis desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of MRP Systems & Process desirable
  • General accountancy/finance knowledge would be beneficial
  • Proven track record on reducing costs/lead-times & delivery terms
  • Good Negotiation skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to effectively influence key stakeholders
